Usage Policy
Guidelines for responsible and appropriate use of SideDraft.
1. Purpose
This Usage Policy provides guidelines for using SideDraft responsibly. Our goal is to ensure the Extension remains a helpful, safe, and trustworthy tool for all users. By using SideDraft, you agree to follow these guidelines.
2. Intended Use
SideDraft is designed to help you write, edit, and refine content alongside AI chat platforms. Appropriate uses include:
- Drafting blog posts, articles, essays, and reports
- Writing professional emails, newsletters, and marketing copy
- Creating social media posts, captions, and hooks
- Developing technical documentation, README files, and changelogs
- Writing resumes, cover letters, and professional materials
- Research, summarization, and content analysis
- Any other legitimate writing or content creation activity
3. Prohibited Uses
You must not use SideDraft to create or facilitate content that:

Content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, or incites violence or harm against individuals or groups.
⚠️ Misinformation
Deliberately creating and distributing false or misleading information designed to deceive, manipulate, or cause public harm.
⚠️ Intellectual Property Violations
Content that infringes on copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
⚠️ Impersonation
Creating content designed to impersonate another person, organization, or entity in a way that deceives or misleads others.
⚠️ Spam & Manipulation
Generating mass spam, phishing content, automated manipulation of platforms, or deceptive engagement tactics.
⚠️ Illegal Activity
Creating content that facilitates, promotes, or instructs on illegal activities including fraud, malware distribution, or unauthorized access.
4. AI Platform Terms
SideDraft integrates with third-party AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok). When using these platforms through SideDraft, you remain bound by their respective Terms of Service. Key responsibilities include:
- Not submitting prompts that violate the AI platform's content policies
- Respecting usage limits, rate limits, and fair use guidelines
- Not attempting to bypass safety filters or content restrictions
- Understanding that AI-generated content may require human review
- Not using AI outputs for decisions with significant real-world consequences without proper human oversight
5. Academic Integrity
When using SideDraft for academic or educational purposes:
- Be transparent about AI assistance if required by your institution
- Follow your school's, university's, or publisher's policies on AI-assisted writing
- Do not submit AI-generated content as entirely your own original work without disclosure
- Use AI as a tool for brainstorming, editing, and improving your own ideas — not replacing them
6. Content Accuracy
AI-generated content may contain factual errors, outdated information, or hallucinated references. You are responsible for:
- Fact-checking any claims, statistics, or references in AI-generated content
- Verifying that published content does not contain harmful or inaccurate information
- Not presenting AI-generated medical, legal, or financial advice as professional guidance
- Adding appropriate disclaimers when AI-assisted content could be interpreted as professional advice
7. Modification of the Extension
You may not:
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on SideDraft
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices or labels within the Extension
- Use SideDraft as a basis for creating a competing product or service
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of anyone violating this Usage Policy or using SideDraft inappropriately, please report it to us at hi@montr.io. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Enforcement
While SideDraft operates entirely locally and we cannot enforce compliance directly, we reserve the right to:
- Report illegal activity to appropriate authorities
- Update the Extension to prevent specific misuse patterns
- Request removal from the Chrome Web Store in extreme cases
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Usage Policy as new use cases and concerns emerge. Changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated through the Chrome Web Store or within the Extension.
